Welcome to the Campbell River Chapter of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Eva Markvoort
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Eva Markvoort, a tremendous young woman who lost her fight with cystic fibrosis (CF) on March 27. Our thoughts and prayers are with Eva's family and friends.
Eva was an amazing individual loved by family, friends and everyone who knew her. She was instrumental in helping raise awareness of cystic fibrosis and her death leaves behind a big void in the CF community and beyond.
The Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation recently awarded Eva with the national Summerhayes Award. Named after Doug Summerhayes, the first President of the Foundation, the award honours a person with cystic fibrosis who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the CF cause.
The Foundation is grateful for everything that Eva and her family has done for the cause. Eva?s love and legacy will continue to live in our hearts forever. Her passing inspires all of us to work even harder to raise funds for CF research until such time a cure for CF is found so other lives are not cut short.
Please visit Eva's blog to learn more about her story.
25 Years: This calls for a celebration!
Campbell River Chapter will be celebrating the 25th year as a chapter of the CCFF on February 23rd! A celebratory event is being planned for April. Stay tuned for details.
A Cure for Cystic Fibrosis?
Currently, there is no cure for Cystic Fibrosis, the most common genetic disorder affecting young Canadians today. But we face the future with growing confidence and hope.
Cystic fibrosis is one of the better understood human genetic diseases, and ongoing trials of treatment aimed at reducing the devastating symptoms of CF have been conducted with some success. However, a cure which is effective in everyone with CF is still some years away.
